Communications Assistant

£15,000 per annum

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Working hours 09:00-17:00, Monday to Friday
  • One hour for lunch
  • 23 days annual leave, plus bank holiday and shutdown over Christmas

Based at Stockton House, Rugby Road, Stockton, Southam, Warwickshire, CV47 8LB

Due to exceptional growth, we are looking for a Communications Assistant to join our busy Communications Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of The Wigley Group's communications strategy, completing day-to-day tasks in line with the company's vision, objectives, and values, working as part of the Communications Team to deliver best possible outcomes across all channels and platforms. The role will work with the team to support opportunities for growth and positive change throughout the business in all matters relating to The Group's brand and communications, both internally and externally.

This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is passionate about kick-starting a career in marketing and communications. You will gain invaluable practical experience in a multi-disciplinary communications team while completing a bespoke training programme which will be suited to both your needs and the needs of the role. In 12-18 months, you will have gained a working knowledge of social media, web, branding, graphic design, events management, internal communications, PR and more. This will be accompanied by a series of accredited qualifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of The Group communications strategy.
  • Regularly update the website, including adding news stories, making amends to copy and imagery and other tasks and required.
  • Extract monthly digital analytics reports.
  • Monitor the Group’s – and associated entities’ – social media channels, raising any concerns or activity of note to the Communications Co-ordinator.
  • Liaise with the Group’s retained third-party PR and communications provider(s) as required.
  • Support the delivery of a calendar of events for The Wigley Group and associated entities.
  • Support the creation and delivery of internal communications resources, including posters and emails, for The Wigley Group and associated entities.
  • Create and deliver quarterly e-newsletters, pulling post-send reports, and distributing as required.
  • Support with the design of branded materials or artwork for The Group and associated entities.
  • Provide required information relating to digital analytics and any other areas deemed applicable to the Communications Co-ordinator ahead of quarterly board meetings or otherwise as requested.
  • Fulfil all assigned responsibilities outlined in the Service Level and other formal agreements held with external parties.
  • Complete communications-based administrative tasks when requested by other members of the Communications team.

What we're looking for

  • A genuine passion for marketing and communications - do you find yourself fascinated by social media? Do you want to know more about what goes into a brand and its appearance/voice? Do you love organising events? This might be the job for you. 

  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in - we are a busy team that operates across multiple functions and departments, you'd need to be willing to get stuck in with lots of different tasks that come your way.

  • Strong IT skills - most of our work is computer-based, so you'll need to be confident with Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and be willing/able to learn how to use other programmes too. 

  • A keen eye for detail and quality - we and our clients set very high standards and we expect you to too.

  • Good oral and listening skills - our business is all about doing business in person, so you will need to be a good speaker who can clearly express ideas.

  • Strong teamwork skills - we are a strong team and the ability to work effectively with others is essential for anyone who joins us.

  • Self-motivation - you must be able to use your own initiative and manage your own workload. 

  • Excellent time-keeping - we are sticklers for promptness and our clients are too. 

  • Desire for continued self-development - you must be eager to learn new skills and keep up-to-date with the ever-changing marketing and communications landscape.
