The major regeneration of the former home of the world-famous Daimler works in Coventry is taking a significant step forward with a public consultation on plans to create a vibrant new neighbourhood for living and work, culture and leisure.
Proposals for the Sandy Lane Industrial Estate in Radford are for a mixed-use scheme that will provide up to 500 homes, employment and commercial spaces, and cultural and leisure amenities.
The canal-side development — named Daimler Wharf — will build on the site’s great heritage, regenerate the area, and act as a catalyst for the creation of a Northern Quarter for the city.
The Wigley Group owns the seven-acre site next to the Coventry Canal.
The public consultation runs from 8 February to the 28 February, 2021, and as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic will take place online.

The Daimler Wharf scheme is the second phase of a major regeneration of the site, with work already underway on Daimler Powerhouse.
The former centre of engineering excellence will become a centre of creative excellence, providing dedicated spaces for artists and resident creative companies led by Imagineer Productions which has been based on site for over a decade. It will be focused on outdoor arts, theatre and working with young and emerging artists, and will play an integral part in supporting UK City of Culture 2021 as a production centre for major performance works.
