The Wigley Group Open Golf Gala and Dinner returns after three years

An annual charity event in Warwickshire which raises vital funds to support serving and veteran soldiers is returning bigger and better, with comedian Tim Vine named as special guest.

The Wigley Group’s Golf Day & Gala Dinner 2022 will be held for the first time since 2019 on Wednesday, July 13, and at a bigger, new venue – The Belfry Hotel & Resort, near Sutton Coldfield.

Since launching in 2013, the event has raised more than £120,000 for the Wigley Support Fund (WSF) – an initiative with the official Parachute Regiment charity Support Our Paras to help injured, serving and veteran soldiers transition from military to civilian life.

As well as golf on the PGA National Course in the day, guests will be treated to a gala dinner in the evening and an all-star line-up of entertainment with sets from Tim Vine and magician John Archer, live music, a raffle, and an auction of memorabilia.

Robert Wigley, chairman of The Wigley Group, said: “We have not been able to hold this event for the past two years due to the pandemic so we are absolutely delighted to see it safely return.

“Due to its success and the terrific support from people over the years, we are pleased to be returning bigger and better at a new venue which will help increase capacity.

“The funds raised at this event go a long way to helping to support and re-train injured, serving and veteran soldiers, equipping them with skills for a new start.

“We are hugely grateful for the support and generosity of all of those who have attended in the past and cannot wait to see everyone for what will undoubtedly be a great event once again.”

It is the eighth year that the golf day and dinner has been held by Warwickshire property investment company The Wigley Group, whose headquarters are based at Stockton House, in Southam.

TV sports announcer and former paratrooper John McDonald will once again host the evening, while stars from the world of darts, snooker and boxing will also join the event.

The event is expected to attract some 270 business professionals from across the region, including around 100 golfers.
