Marketing Assistant shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year award

An apprentice has marked a fantastic first year at The Wigley Group by being named as a finalist in an award celebrating the region’s rising stars.

Tilly England has made the shortlist in the Apprentice of the Year category at the CoventryLive and WarwickshireLive Business Awards 2022.

Her journey continues Wigley’s proud record of supporting young talent and helping them to develop through a range of opportunities, including Apprenticeships, a Graduate Scheme, a Placement Scheme, and work experience for local school children.

Since joining Wigley as a Marketing Assistant (Apprentice) in September 2021, Tilly has developed her skills and knowledge through on-the-job learning alongside her Chartered Institute of Marketing accredited qualification with Heart of England Training.

She has led on the delivery of major fundraising events, assisted on social media and graphic design, and earned glowing testimonials from colleagues and peers.

Tilly will contest in the final at Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry on Friday October 28.

Events and Communications Manager Katie Wigley said: “I’m thrilled for Tilly as she has worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months with us.

“Her hard work and enthusiasm for her role has been invaluable, and she has now established herself as an indispensable member of the team.

“She continues to learn and grow and isn’t afraid to try new things or make suggestions – always encouraging us to re-think how we do things and try new ideas.

“We all wish her the best of luck for the finals and look forward to seeing her continued growth.”

Tilly is the latest success story to come out of Wigley’s proven track record of supporting young talent with opportunities to develop.

Alexis Considine also joined the company as an apprentice in accounts and finance in 2017 and has since earned three promotions to become Finance Manager.

Whilst an apprentice, she was named a double-award winner after scooping Apprentice of the Year at the Coventry Telegraph Business Awards and Accounting Higher Apprentice of the Year at Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training.

Asset Manager Jess Wood has also been supported by Wigley in her development, joining initially on a Placement Scheme before enrolling on a 12-month Graduate Scheme, culminating in her permanent appointment where she is responsible for the management of a wide and varying property and land portfolio.

Jess is continuing her development and has recently started an MSc in Real Estate Management at Birmingham City University, with her RICS-accredited course sponsored by The Wigley Group.

Director of Group Governance and Development Claire Lynch said: "Providing our staff with the learning and training opportunities to enhance not only their skills, but the skills of our team, is so important to us.

“We want all of our staff to feel motivated and supported in their development, and we work hard to help give everybody the opportunities to progress and fulfil their potential with us.

“We have had a number of success stories from our schemes already and we could not be prouder of how they have developed individually, and delivered for us as a team.

“Tilly is another shining example of this, and we’re all wishing her the best of luck in the finals!”
