Land South of High Street, Kingston Blount

Land South of High Street, Kingston Blount

This site on the eastern edge of the village is owned by a local family and is currently being promoted by Wigley Strategic Land for residential development.

A Vision Document has been produced which demonstrates that the site is capable of delivering a small, high-quality development of approximately 9 homes with a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms, that will complement the rural aesthetic of the village.

Bordered on three sides by residential buildings and their respective gardens, the site has the potential to close a gap in the settlement edge of Kingston Blount and provide a logical extension to the village, positively contributing to a new defined gateway to the village.

The emerging Aston Rowant Neighbourhood Plan notes the site as being adjacent to the Kingston Blount Conservation Area; in close proximity of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Beauty; and within 1.2km of the Aston Rowant SSSI and the Chilterns Beechwoods SAC.

In an assessment of housing sites that were put forward for inclusion in the Plan, the site’s location close to the village centre and public transport deemed it as a suitable location for residential development that could be integrated well into the village.

The Parish Council ran a statutory pre-submission consultation on the draft plan in 2020 and is reviewing comments received and making changes before formally submitting the Neighbourhood Plan to South Oxfordshire District Council.

Our team will continue to engage with the Parish Council and other local stakeholders as the Plan progresses and intend to pursue a planning application at the appropriate time.
