Blue Ribbon Park

A former industrial site redeveloped into a major Coventry commercial hub with new roads, key occupiers and a 65,000 sq ft industrial scheme.

The site of the former Alfred Herbert Ltd works in Coventry has undergone wholesale changes since The Wigley Group’s founder, John Wigley, first acquired land in 1979.

It operated as an industrial estate known as Edgwick Park for many years, however, the site was old, dilapidated and not fit for purpose, with the area re-assembled for development as a major commercial hub in 2005.

Work started with the construction of new access roads, John Wigley Way and The Stampings, both of which required a complicated negotiation with highways to ensure a safe passage on and off Phoenix Way – a major route through Coventry.

The creation of a new access road was followed by Tetra Real Estate securing planning consent and delivering the construction of a 20,000 sq ft delivery depot in 2009, which was leased to Royal Mail and used as its new North Coventry Royal Mail Delivery Office.

The following year, adjoining land was sold to Lidl, with Tetra obtaining planning permission for a supermarket. In 2017, the final section was sold with planning permission, creating a Mercedes-Benz dealership.

A high-quality industrial/warehouse scheme comprising five units totalling 65,000 sq ft was developed a year later, following the demolition of existing buildings, licensed asbestos removal and ground remediation.

The development provides high-quality industrial units in an excellent location close to the A444 and junction 3 of the M6. It addresses the acute shortage of industrial space in Coventry and creates a thriving hub of industry to the north of the city.
