Daimler Powerhouse
A c.7,000 sq ft historic Daimler Powerhouse in Coventry, retained to preserve its industrial heritage and now used by The Godiva Awakes Trust as a modern creative hub.
The Daimler Powerhouse is a landmark asset of c.7,000 sq. ft. forming part of the former Daimler Motor Company works in Coventry, widely recognised as the birthplace of the UK automotive industry.
The property was retained by Wigley when the wider Sandy Lane Business and Industrial Estate was sold in November 2025, following several decades of ownership, to enable redevelopment of the surrounding site. The retention of the Powerhouse ensures the preservation and continued use of one of Coventry’s most historically significant industrial buildings.
The building continues to be occupied by The Godiva Awakes Trust, a Coventry-based charitable organisation operating through Imagineer Productions. The Trust delivers ambitious arts, engineering and cultural projects, using creativity and innovation to engage communities and celebrate Coventry’s industrial heritage. Working with Wigley, Imagineer has transformed the historic building into a modern creative hub, providing space for artists, makers, performances, workshops and community engagement.
