My week’s work experience at Wigley – Lani Wati

During the week commencing 29 June 2026, The Wigley Group hosted Lani Wati, who is currently studying her a-levels at Southam College, and is hoping to read Media Communications at university next September. She spent the week being mentored by our Communications Co-Ordinator, Leila Scott, who set her a variety of tasks to give her a real insight into the world of marketing and communications.

At the end of her week, Lani drafted a blog showcasing her experience with us…

My week of work experience at The Wigley Group proved to be an unforgettable experience. A plethora of interactive and challenging tasks were assigned to me, equipping me with transferable skills that are guaranteed to set me up for my future. The conversations I was placed in struck with dignifying insight that has forever shaped my outlook on life and business.

Before my arrival, I was assured to be in safe hands by careful organization and thorough communication. Numerous conversations were had with the team that would see the tailoring of the week to my needs and my interests, with their promised support to develop my abilities as a worker. All my tasks I was provided with were both challenging and thought provoking. They allowed me to unleash my creative side and fine tune my personal voice, while fitting into the style of the company’s brand identity.

One aspect of my tasks included creating numerous social media posts for the company. This was beneficial because it developed my limited experience in graphic design while also allowing me professional insight into what is required by the marketing and communications team when creating content. I learnt about brand identity and company colour pallets, which would transfer well to future jobs in the sector. The creation was always engaging, and I was scheduled to use both creative software like Canva and Procreate, which would transfer to future jobs in the same industry.

On a couple of occasions, I found myself doubting the abilities I had coming into this placement. I had no prior experience in marketing or content creation and feared I would be ultimately lost upon arrival. The team at The Wigley Group curbed these worries and embraced my limited prior experience and gave me step by step guidance and tutorials for what my next steps could include. The team, especially Leila Scott, dedicated their time to bettering me and for that I will be forever grateful.

Overall, I would highly recommend taking up work experience at The Wigley Group or any of its affiliates for a guaranteed time of reformative, enhancing adventure. The team will work tirelessly to make sure you are looked after.
